Treat Wrinkles: Restylane

Aging gracefully is a myth. No one takes the appearance of a new wrinkle or a new gray hair gracefully. In fact, most people defy age through the use of color treatments, makeup, skin care products and cosmetic surgery. The prevalence of such age-defying treatments gives testament to the fact that no one wants to look their age. Most people search out products and treatments that will allow them to hold onto their youthful appearance for a little while longer. One such treatment sought out by millions of people worldwide is Restylane.

Restalyne is an injected cosmetic treatment that is performed in office by a trained medical professional. Unlike Botox injections that cause temporary paralysis of the facial muscles, Restalyne fills in wrinkles. Restalyne is not a toxin; it is made up of a clear gel, water and lab-manufactured hyaluronic acid which closely resembles the hyaluronic acid that occurs naturally in the body.

Restalyne treatments can be performed on numerous parts of the body including the hands, face, mouth, lips, chin, cheeks and nose. It is highly effective; it works instantly; and there are no side effects other than common irritation caused at the injection site such as redness, swelling and bruising.

The gel substance, Restalyne, is injected directly into the area where smoothing and plumping is desired. For example: Injections placed along the crease of a deep wrinkle will plump the skin and reduce the appearance of the wrinkle. Restalyne can also be used to enhance lips and contour the face. It revitalizes and plumps the skin which creates a more youthful appearance.

As mentioned before, Restalyne works instantly. However, it may take a few days to fully appreciate the results due to swelling and bruising. This is especially true if large areas are treated simultaneously. Sensitive areas, such as the lips, are more prone to bruising than other areas and require more time to heal.

The treatment itself is usually painless. A local anesthetic is commonly used to ease the discomfort associated with the injections. Typically, a single session will last no longer than 30 minutes depending on the size of the area to be treated.

Restalyne is not a permanent treatment, meaning that the skin will gradually revert back to its natural state after treatment. However, Restalyne is a long-lasting treatment. Injections are normally performed every 6 to 12 months to maintain the look. If a patient decides that Restalyne is no longer for them, they will gradually lose the effects of the treatment over a long period of time if no follow up treatments are performed.

The cost for Restalyne injections varies dramatically. The average cost for one session is about $650, but treatments can be as low as $200 or as high as $2500. It really just depends on how many injections are used and how intricate the injection pattern is.

Restalyne is highly effective when it comes to diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It can also be used to plump sagging areas on the face, hands and chin as well as make thinning lips fuller. Of course, the overall effectiveness of Restalyne varies from patient to patient. Some may need to follow up more quickly than others to maintain their look, whereas others may only require minimal treatment.
